rain shall take over

rain shall take over and fill this
embrace, regardless of what air you
might pack into its empty spaces;
distance can no longer distract,
but rather accepts as reality the
intolerance of cold, the lack of
warmth in a place once filled with
sun: the life saturated and bursting
like a grape in my mouth… a taste
of wine followed by a sentimental
toast to which i cheer, but i know
in this rain, we can never be joyous
