love can breathe

without so much as a touch,
i feel you in the inner breeze,
the back of your hand as they
glide down the side of my cheek,
i’ve never felt so close in
this distance arranged between
you and i; we are not lovers
and yet as though we are one
in these predictable motions
as i gravitate towards your
eyes, pull you closer to these
lips… i am searching for a
world where we are possible,
down through a portal and into
a secret landscape filled with
sand and coconut trees… where
snow can’t touch us or cover
up our handheld vision, a place
where our love can breathe
