Sand and Sandcastles

Sand and sandcastles… just a thought.

many nights, I’ve looked
for you in the sand,
scouring every grain
for one memory of us–
were we? and could (we) have
been before the waves tore
us apart; I am spread thin
across the hemisphere
to find just one clue–
where might you have been
if boldly i asked, even
without courage or might,
trespass into forbidden
territories depleted as
I am. if I dared, perhaps
I won’t crumble half as
much as this castle
on the sand
