Where deficits have left its hunger trail, perhaps, if we follow, we can trace it back to family. What we are to one another, what we have done to each other. It may not all be bad afterall once we learn to overlook, forgive, really learn to love one another. You ever wonder why we came into each other’s life, be graced with the examples so directly in front of us? To choose to follow an example, enhance or maybe rebel and go the extreme opposite, it is all a part of life’s buffet. To be the better person, we pick and choose the traits we like and imitate, improve upon from thereon. And we could only be grateful for the things that have been handed down to us because those around us tried their best, as best they could, to show us the right way; to rise above the challenges that needs surpassing. Perhaps this is not the universal view of what family can be, but for today, for the sake of closeness and gathering simply for the leaning, this is where we can satisfy that hunger of ours that grumbles about from time to time… a love rooted in family.

as best you could,
love in words
you perpetuated in her…
she is you in eyes, in
cheek, the speech uttered
in her gentle disposition
whose kind pupils and
powerful words manifest
in her baby dolls who
know more the craft of
her hands than her own
pens and paintbrushes.
I never knew of your
love for her, Mother,
but all Rubies will
spell one day the
great Sun and votes
you registered to own
her, give birth despite
sins and all the freeing
your soul to complete:
love in her, finally,
the love deserved by you
