Love’s Innocence

Love’s innocence, we are the rightful owners. To each is bequeathed this… realizing it a gift, we must preserve, try with all our might not to let others take it away.

Upon the cusp of night, I know
to belong to you

Inside your eyes lie this deepest
domicile, thatched roof and warm
like handholding in December.

We dance to the tune of
stars gazing– the only duet
that is meant for the night sky(as
we are stars and sky in another

And I sleep upon your clouds
to rest in the unconditional embrace
where you have been most mindful
not to judge(however tempting,
however provocative my silence
has been even as I lay still,
remain unspoken for
and still unspoken for)

At the cusp of night, I begin
to love; to wonder about its strange
paths and turnabouts
the sharp turns and crossover lanes
I begin to love(I am grateful you
don’t steal the innocence away)
